Peter Paul Rubens is a Flemish Baroque artist known for his extravagant style that emphasizes and embodies mobility, vitality, color and sensuality like no other. During the Counter-Reformation, he painted numerous altars, portraits, landscapes and historical paintings with mythological, religious and allegorical subjects. His work combines the tradition of Breugel realism with the achievements of the Venetian school.
